Rise in Guernsey's Rental Housing Demand


While this might be seen as pointing to a boom in that sector, the reality is somewhat different. Population figures show that there hasn’t been a corresponding influx of new residents, so the reasons for that growth must lie elsewhere – and you don’t need to look far.


The rise is almost certainly driven by internal market factors. These being the rise in ‘accidental’ landlords as a result of owners not being able to sell in a poor sales market, combined with the increase in Buy to Let owners diversifying their investment strategies in the face of poor returns elsewhere.
