Martel Maides Commercial line up Slaughter House tenant

Director Terry Gardiner of Martel Maides comments that “ we were very pleased to put forward several detailed bids which were presented to the Property Services Sub Committee on the 19th February.  Feedback we have received from all of the parties is that they feel they have been given an equal footing throughout the process and have been dealt with in a very fair and transparent manner.”

Commenting on the matter, Chairman of the Treasury & Resource Department’s Property Services Sub-Committee, Deputy Tony Spruce said: “our review of the bids has taken into account the overall terms offered by each of the applicants, which not only included rent, but also whether they would be responsible for the future repairs and maintenance liabilities on the building. Taking this holistic view, the Sub Committee have asked States Property Services to progress discussions with their preferred bidder, Randalls of Guernsey. We have been very impressed with the lengths Randalls have gone to, to set out their vision for the building, but also their willingness to invest in it, pay a commercial rent and take responsibility for repairs and maintenance going forward.”  States Property Services are pleased to confirm that they will therefore be progressing discussions with Randalls, a well-established and long standing local business.

Guy Plummer, Director of Randalls, was delighted to receive the above news and has said “Randall’s has a long and successful history developing and operating high quality hospitality facilities for the people of Guernsey and recognises the historic importance of the Slaughter House to the island. We have a reputation for completing highly attractive and commercially successful projects and are very happy to be chosen as the preferred bidder for this iconic site in St Peter Port.  This project represents an exciting opportunity if detailed terms can now be agreed which are financially viable. On this basis we would plan to give this important building a new lease of life to provide a superb amenity for the harbour and an important attraction for locals and tourists alike.”

Martel Maides Commercial are now working with SPS to finalise terms with Randalls.
