The Martel Maides partnership was formed in early 1972 by Clive Maides and Peter Martel, both with considerable previous experience in the Guernsey estate agency industry. This next period saw general expansion of the business and the development of "the complete property service" which encompassed specialist residential departments, lettings and management departments, commercial property department, property auctioneering and agricultural departments.

In 1976 Martel Maides opened its first dedicated Chattels Auction Rooms in Berthelot Street, St. Peter Port.

During the 1980’s and 1990’s the Partnership was known as Martel Maides & Le Pelley, but during the 1990’s it formed close association with the Hamptons Estate Agency Group and for short period were known as Hamptons Martel Maides, whereby the Company networked with approximately 120 Hamptons UK and International estate agency outlets. Similarly, the Auction Rooms ran an association with Bonhams and for a short period entered a joint venture with that international auction house and was known as Bonhams Martel Maides.

In 1994 the Company relocated to its prestigous High Street offices which were converted from former banking premises. Martel Maides remains as the only estate agent trading out of a High Street presence.
